All Caelan could do is watch while Amy soared the sky. She observed as Amy sprinted forward and suddenly lifted off the ground; gravity defying her. After Amy called out to her, Caelan followed suit; first dashing forward, and then after jumping, she just seemed to levitate. Like Amy had done, she soared through the air and followed after Amy.

She first looked straight ahead to follow Amy's spirit, but curiosity took over as she glanced at the scenery below them. Tons of trees, houses, and plains passed by them within an instant. After a minute or so, she saw an almost-deserted gas station down below them. "Is that it?" Caelan asked, pointing down at the ground as she did so. She was pretty surprised that they got to their destination that quick.

"Yeah, that's it. Now remember: Just keep your distance until you're done trying out your powers. Asterville has a bad enough reputation for scaring people off as it is, we don't need to prove all those tabloid newspaper stories right." The redhead said flatly before she descended toward the ground at a distance away from the gas station but still close enough to see it.

Amy Holmes touched down on the ground without a sound. She smirked thinking of how much fun she could have here once Caelan was done with discovering her powers. She didn't care if a few people got scared once she was sure there wouldn't be much danger to it.

The young adult wondered why Amy was concerned about scaring other people off--isn't that what Asterville was about, anyway? Granted, Caelan didn't know much about Asterville since her stay within this city was short-timed...but she knew she was here long enough to tell that ghost scares were not scary, but the norm of the city; more of an April Fool's Day joke than anything else. This didn't include the visitors from outside of Asterville, although that may or may not have been what she was talking about.

Not only that, but apparently Amy was prone to making jokes of some sort in the library, since Woofers glared at her every time she came in. The tone of voice she used in her warning also convinced Caelan that the young girl didn't mind messing around TOO much.

She lowered herself onto the ground cautiously and slowly, but this new talent of hers almost came to her like a sixth sense; like it was a part of her. At this point, she wasn't sure what to do--how would she test her abilities in the first place? Was she going to go head to head against Amy? And how was she going to figure out her hidden abilities in the first place? Again and again the questions abounded, but Caelan decided to stay quiet since she knew that Amy would soon read them, anyway.

Amy had decided to focus more intently on her new pupil in order to get a better feel for her personality and thoughts. It was hard chopping through the jungle of tangled thoughts, memories and events. But the focal point being a single person made the journey bearable at least. The higher the number of people the more difficult it was to regulate thought-flow and avoid accidentally tuning into others in the near vicinity.

"I know you don't like the idea of telepathy but I'm reading your mind anyway. I honestly can't help it. To answer your unspoken questions: Yes, ghosts here are commonplace, but you still want to be careful. If you run around with an incomplete knowledge of your abilities and use them with abandon, that's stupid, and furthermore some people don't like ghosts even if they have some kind of interaction with them every day..."

"There's something happening in this town and maybe you haven't been dead long enough to feel it, but I do, however I can't tell what it is because I receive happenings indiscriminately from everyone all at once." The girl frowned and stared down at her sneaker-clad feet, kicking a pebble away from her body. She crossed her arms over her chest and closed her eyes.

"My motto is to have one, 'Plan A,' one, 'Plan B,' and a plan from at least one other letter of the alphabet in case the first two don't work out. You'll learn soon enough if you haven't learned it in part already that when you're dead you lose a lot of direction but there are new dangers that crop up: Knowing which people to scare and which to leave alone for instance. We aren't invincible by any stretch of the word." With that lecture out of the way the fifteen-year-old opened her unfocused blue-gray eyes and turned to face Caelan, looking through her, but regarding her directly all the same.

"You get it now? Are you ready to try to figure out what your special abilities are, if you even have them? Oh, yeah, and that's another thing I neglected to mention: I don't even know what your powers are, so we've got to be extra-careful, 'cause if the telepath doesn't know we're definitely in trouble." Amy stuck out her tongue jokingly after her mock-shaming remark addressing her lack of psychic accuracy.

(I've got next to nothing at the moment.)

Viv pulled up in her pickup with a shaky Rowan. Evan climbed in and was silenced by a glare before he could speak.

Ashlyn watched TV.

(OOC: You do have an idea for the direction of the story, right? If you gave some hint of how to advance it then we could... well, advance it. Currently I need a post from r1nn in order to go anywhere.)

Caelan listened intently as Amy explained why it wouldn't be a wise idea to go about and cause trouble...not like she was planning to, anyway. She only was curious to what the adolescent thought about the idea. With a little sigh of relief, she folded her arms and after shaking her head a bit, glanced back at Amy. This was still a lot to grasp--being dead and all; other ghosts having powers like her; an evil that was currently present but not defeated...And there was a lot more to death, and to these powers, than she previously thought.

"Alright, that makes sense. So how do I figure out what problems I have, anyway?" She tried to remember with all her might about her life when she was alive. Did she even have any powers then? Suddenly, a flow of memories drove through her: how she once created a friend in a form of an illusion when she was only a child; and how she was able to put the dishes away without even lifting a finger. After blinking a bit, she said, "well, nevermind, I seem to have found the answer myself."

Suddenly, a heavy rock that was laying on the ground a couple yards away from both Caelan and Amy levitated, and flew over to hit a tree trunk. Staring at the rock as it fell to the ground, Caelan said, "That's one of them, anyway. There's something else I can do."

She closed her eyes for a few moments, and tried to focus on herself: her appearance and behaviors, especially. Once she opened her eyes again, a Caelan clone was present and was waving at Amy.

...But this only lasted a short while; because within a minute her twin disappeared. Apparently her abilities were weak from not using them for so long. She would just have to practice: in reality, this seemed like a totally new thing to her. Everything was vague at this point, and once she figured out what happened in her life while she was alive...she would become more powerful.

Amy was glad that Caelan had taken well to the lecture. She wouldn't want to hear about another ghost lost and purposeless in the world. Plus something that many ghosts neglected to realize was that there were living people with weaponry that could hurt them aside from the other live folks or ghosts with powers. The aforementioned weaponry might not be in the hands of your average Joe but it was still out there and just as dangerous as anything living people hurt each other with on a daily basis.

The redhead was about to say something when she saw a rock in her peripheral vision. Normally that wouldn't be anything to gawk at but in this case the rock was floating and then it launched itself into a tree trunk! Telekinesis was a good, respectable ability. The fifteen-year-old gave the brunette the thumbs-up for her efforts.

The girl decided to stay quiet and simply observe her pupil. The woman seemed to be on the right track without any assistance. The appearance of the clone made Amy bust out into a wide smile and she waved back at the clone before it had disappeared.

"It looks like you've got telekinesis and the ability to create illusions. I don't think I need to tell you how important it is to keep the first one under control. Other than that there's really nothing else I can teach you." Amy said with a shrug as an added gesture to emphasize her lack of new "wisdom" to impart to Caelan.

It always felt good to meddle--Um, help others she mentally corrected herself. It seemed that they were successful in keeping a low profile as well. She turned her unfocused gaze toward the gas station in the near distance. A new question had come up: Now that she didn't have to worry about accidentally unleashing a fledgling specter's abilities on the unsuspecting populace, how would she occupy her time next? One fun diversion ended and the opportunity for another one had presented itself.

Another report about an unseen vandal was the highlight of the news that evening. Ashlyn sighed. She was tired of moping. It was time to do something. She wheeled herself to the door and down the ramp, hoping to test out this bonding.

The truck stopped at the inn, and Viv killed the engine. Evan opened the door and prepared to leap, but an icy hand on his shoulder stopped him.

"Kitchen, five minutes. Be there, or I will find you," hissed Viv.

Evan nodded, a lump in his throat. Viv was mad enough at the moment to follow through on any threats she might consider making. Best not test the waters. He leapt out of the truck and headed inside.

Rowan finally spoke. His voice was shaky. "Viv..."

"Are you all right?" she asked, knowing the answer.

He shook his head. "There was a man. H-he-"

"What?"

Rowan searched for the right description. "He was like a void."

Viv arched an eyebrow. "Him?" With out waiting for an answer, she climbed out of the truck. "Inside, now."
