PostSubject: Phoenix Wright Roleplay - Rules, Characters, and Discussion   Wed Feb 27, 2008 8:30 am

Based off of the version some people were playing the chat box earlier, I present to you the Phoenix Write Roleplaying Game thread! Since I’m starting the thread, I’m going to be the wacky judge! I’ll provide (hopefully) witty comments and responses for the prosecution and defense. Please put your character’s name and occupation in this thread, like I am doing here. Please keep game only stuff in the Phoenix Wright RP Thread for CASE ONE.

Name: “Judge Ann Jury”
Occupation and Role in Case: Judge; Judge
Characteristics (optional): Likes to use a whip sometimes. [Possibly a split personality?]
History (optional): Has been a judge a long time. No one know much about Mrs. Jury's past.

Characters We Need:
Defense Attorney, Prosecuting Attorney,Defendant, Witnesses (at least 2, though one might be ok, guilty or not guilty)

Suggested Character for CASE ONE: Restaurant owner

The most difficult role will likely be that of the investigator. They provide the list of evidence for the cases, can deliver addition evidence during the court proceedings (given importance of evidence established), give evidence to attorneys during the breaks, and have to take the stand about the crime scene or any other matters they know. If the investigator PMs me a list of evidence they want, I can even make the little evidence icons if they *really* want.

Another role that would be appreciated is a Co-Judge, so we can have responses to this thread sooner if one of us happens to be not online. I'll give my character a split personality if someone offers to do it, so just create as you would normally.

Notes About Posts:

1. Witnesses need to break up their testimony in to sections, but are encouraged to post their whole testimony in the post before the CROSS EXAMINATION. The back and forth of the should look something like this, though it will be more broken up by postings:

Example:
Spoiler:

2. Game Realism:
The defense attorney and prosecuting attorney are encouraged to use OBJECTION for any time you object during CROSS EXAMINATION. It is also encouraged for you to write HOLD IT! as I just indicated.

People on the stand are encouraged to make their testimonies green during the CROSS EXAMINATION.

If you are another character and wish to interrupt the proceedings, IT IS ENCOURAGED FOR YOU TO WRITE LIKE THIS!

If you are found out to be the actual criminal, it is encouraged for you to write something like this (minus the spoiler)
Spoiler:

And so on.

About Game Play:
I will come up with the basic set up of the case. It is up to the attorneys to tell me what really happened. It should be noted that the defense is encouraged to come up with extremely convoluted events that actually happened and is the reason that their client is innocent. Things will unfold as a case progresses, and you guys are going to have to wing it for the most part. Prosecutors may OBJECTION to your OBJECTION s with an alternate explanation of events, or to bring up the need for proof. The investigator must provide you with an Autopsy Report as well as a Crime Scene Report. Other than that, they can be as creative as they like with what items they give you as evidence that will become pertinent to the case. There will also be breaks during the case and they are free to make up more evidence for you to have if they wish to and you want it. Investigator, please make only 6 at maximum items for the attorney/attorneys to start the case with.

Special Rules For the Defense Attorney:
Just like the real game, you will start out a case with a bar that I will assign a number to. You will have a total of 40 points. You can lose 5 points for OBJECTION ing for no reason. You can also lose 5 points for OBJECTION too much (subjective). When in doubt, [Press] with a HOLD IT! instead. The Judge may get fed up with you line of questioning and offer you an ultimatum to present one more piece of evidence to find something. If you fail to show the 'right' piece (just give a really good explanation), you'll lose 20 points. In rare cases, the judge can decide you will lose all your points if you don't prove the case and wrap things up with one last piece of irrefutable evidence (I doubt I will do this). If you do some how manage to reach zero points (unlikely) you will lose the case automatically, and I or the Co-Judge will start a new thread for the next case.

I will try to post as close to the game as well, so we can have a realistic atmosphere! So, post your characters, discuss questions, and suggestions/additions to the rules in this thread. Thanks guys! <3 This took forever to write up.

We still need at least two other willing people. The defendant and a witness. If we cannot get more players, some of you might have to play two parts.

EDIT: Also, MGL, for your first post on the witness stand, please provide the defense and/or prosecution with a list of items. Alternatively, you can bring it up in your testimony and it will be added to the court record. If you want actual small icons made for the evidence, PM me the list, and I'll send pictures to you.

DOUBLE EDIT: If you guys want to start now, we can. We only need the current three characters we have for the first round of testimony and questioning.

NOTE: I upped the defense attorney's point bar, because I felt it wasn't high enough. Also, unless anyone has any serious OBJECTION s, I'd like to start a thread for this on the other forum too. I'll wait from an OK from people here first though.

Alright, since we don't have him yet:

Name: Flour Lefleur
Occupation: Restaurant owner/Chef
Characteristics: Skinny and fabulous with an emo look. Is not gay, and gets annoyed that everyone automatically thinks he is.
Makes disgusting-looking, but surprisingly edible food. He calls the food's look "artistic realism" considering the restaurant he owns, it works quite well.

I think we should hold off till we know the rest of the characters here - never know what Mr. Gant will try, being a defense attorney. But since we haven't had an active RP lately...*posts*

Thank you Lady Mac. I'm ready to start anytime MGL starts posting!

EDIT: Also, since no one objected, I'm in the process of putting this on the other forum too. I'm doing a different set up though.

Well, if that is true, then it has not been converted yet.

EDIT:

Well, you seem to need a witness.

Name: Aaron Reed
Occupation and Role in Case: Waiter, Witness
Characteristics: Always rather tired-looking
History: Aaron Reed was hired at Medieval Times a week before the death.

EDIT: Changed occupation

Yeah, the DD fansite. I'm having trouble coming up with another set up, but as soon as I finish that, it will be up.

EDIT: It's up. Man I suck at coming up with case ideas.

Due to the overwhelming response and pacing of the first case, I seriously doubt I will be making a second case, unless things change. I just don't have the heart to try again and continue to wait forever for other people to post.
