| So let me get this straight. You're told that one person is twisting the truth to make you believe one thing. So your response is that you have to listen to another guy that's twisting the truth another way, because it'll "balance" out. That makes no sense whatsoever. I mean, if you know it sucks, then that's a really, really lame argument _________________ | Quote: | | The world is a mess and I just need to... rule it. |

This is why I get my news from public broadcasting. Actual lack of bias. Try it some time. |
It's all biased.
And not really. I just enjoying seeing the opposite of biased statements of what liberals say. It's far better to get both sides of the argument than just the one, is it not? All the news sucks. We all just say Fox sucks because, it's just not mainstream. I think MSNBC, CNN, etc suck just as bad. I think it's just quite ignorant to base all judgments on news that are all biased in the same direction, whether people want to acknowledge the biased statements in them or not. It's just another way to see what people think, how the right think, which is just not as easy to find in mass media. (although I do live in a highly conservative area) No matter how much BS they like to spout, because it's no different from the left, it's just that it's "cool" to hate Fox and like the liberal media. I love the liberal media. Buuuut I certainly do not find it a good way to get all of ones news. It's a very close minded way of getting news. Because no matter what you're going to watch, it's going to be twisted one way...might as well see the arguments on both side, because one side can't always be wrong. I'm probably just repeating myself over and over again.
Quite possibly the only news I ever really trust comes from NPR and the Associated Press. And I know they BOTH have a liberal bias.
(and I pretty much watch everything, it's just I tend to watch Fox the most because most of the news I do get from my computer are, liberally biased, because the internet does tend to be a place of liberal bias...I assume conservatives can't use computers, or something. And our newspaper is so horribly right as well.)_________________ |

| what is a liberal bias? How is something liberally biased? And how is it clear that the news is liberally biased. _________________ | Quote: | | The world is a mess and I just need to... rule it. |

| They promote the left ideas, and downplay the right. They put the right in a negative view. And it doesn't much help that the majority of the news, is, of course, hosted by people who consider themselves as liberals. That's a silly question, for I assume you already know the answer. And it is already self explanatory what liberal bias is...it's biased to liberal views... And I am not conservative, really, at all. I am a very liberal libertarian and I just hate the mass media in its current state. I even started that one post saying I love Penn and Tellar's Bullshit, if you ever wanted to see a show with clear bias that is it. And it's not BAD for being biased. It's BAD if one were to base all political thought and just watch it. It's BAD that the majority of young people today get their news from just the liberal media and care little to none for what the right thinks or says, and then continues to argue that they don't or that it isn't. Because no matter what people are going to put what they say in a biased view of what they think. It's just...nature. _________________ |

| So liberal bias is whenever a Republican makes a gaffe or causes scandal, the media makes sure to cover a Democrat's gaffe or scandal, no matter how old, and whenever a Democrat makes a gaffe or causes scandal, they dedicate several news cycles to repeating the minutiae of the case with nary a mention of Republicans? I guess they must be downplaying the Right if they ignore gaffe upon gaffe upon gaffe if it's a Republican candidate saying it, and promoting Leftist ideals when they pick at turns of phrase even if they aren't gaffes when it's a Democrat saying it. And if prominent media figures party down at a Republican's Sedona ranch, they're clearly liberally biased. I'll agree that pretty much the entire television media structure outside NPR is hugely, hugely shitty. They softball, they don't follow up, they don't hold politicians accountable as the lens through which the American public watches politics. But if anything, the media has a conservative bias. If liberal bias was real and not a bullshit myth, we'd have President Kerry right now, or possibly a second term of President Gore. _________________ |

| I know what liberal bias is supposed to be, but I'm asking you this. Are all opinions created equal? Do we have an inherent right in America to think a certain way, and IF SO, do we have an inherent right to never view ideas that challenge those beliefs? I think that's bullcrap, liberal bias nothing. Ideas aren't a civil liberty. I remember back in the height of the Bush years conservatives were pushing for affirmative action because professors were usually of the liberal persuasion. Do you understand how retarded that is? In the end it comes down to this: TV media is a sty, read and FACT CHECK. That's right, fact checking. That's the actual proper response to bias. Not, if you can believe it, MORE BIAS. And, I'm sorry Matt, but that whole thing could be said back at you. Liberal/Conservative bias claims can be summed up this way: "I don't agree with what they're saying." _________________ | Quote: | | The world is a mess and I just need to... rule it. |

| Just because I think the media is conservatively biased doesn't mean I never fact-check and get my news only from Huffington Post or Daily Kos _________________ |

| that was more of a response to "I watch conservative media too cuz' I think media is liberal." If you said you watched Olberman to counteract the conservativeness you see in media, then that would be directed at you. _________________ | Quote: | | The world is a mess and I just need to... rule it. |

Jeez, Matt, what do you take me for? I took one look at the previews for that show when it came out and decided it would be lame to the max.
The news that it started off good but soon degraded into shite does not surprise me in the least. |

| I watch Heroes and Doctor Who. Occasionally Mythbusters or the history channel, if I can be bothered to turn on the TV. _________________ Perhaps there is something wrong with the Brain Tumbler. Or you could be insane, but we'll run tests on that later.
