Page is updating as they get new info.
Edit: DS updates are done. Has other stuff though.

I would love it, but they took away the GBA slot. I don't think I'll get one.

That's interesting.
Unfortunately, the slightly bigger screens aren't enough to get me to buy another DS.

For reals. All they did was make it almost as good as the PSP, only I already bought one of those.

Console ware is something I am ridiculously NOT excited about.

Seriously, the reason I love downloadable games on major home consoles is that the retail games are so freakin expensive. $30 will get you a quality, brand spankin new game on DS with used games being even cheaper, and if I need something that costs less than that, I probably shouldn't be playing games.

I would probably only get one if my current DS succumbs to that hinge-breaking thing, or if one of the screens gets broken. The L button already doesn't work sometimes (which, incidentally, you can make a stopgap fix by blowing into it. it's like NES cartridge 2.0 )

The reason I love downloadable games is that they're free on Pirate Bay. It's a waste on the DS though. I've already bought all the games I want (excepting FF4, but I think I might go after the original instead). I'm pretty sure they're trying to steal Sony's pirate and homebrew market, but it don't think it will work.

But I dunno, maybe one will be cooler once I have it in my hand. Maybe I can get to the Wal-Mart display before little kids dirty it up too much.

Y'know, Ipala, there are emulators.

Now, after reading that article...

Dynasty Warriors 3 is coming to Wii!? Oh, woot! I am so totally excited!

Not.

Besides, Koei already brought their "Warrior" franchise to the Wii with Samurai Warriors Katana.

If I'm not mistaken, isn't Sangoku Musou 3 really Dynasty Warriors 4?

Besides DW6, DW4 was the one that fans really hated. Hooray for sequel tampering.

Then again, why question Nintendo about re-releasing old titles? It's been their bag for twenty years now.

Perhaps I shouldn't complain. I will be getting Chrono Trigger DS the second it comes out.

No, that would be Shin Sangoku Musou 3 which was Dynasty Warriors 4. Then again, when we look at that, Sangoku Musou 3 doesn't even exist; Sangoku Musou was DW1, and then all DW after that are Shin Sangoku Musou.

So then it becomes a question of, "What's Sangoku Musou 3, and where did Sangoku Musou 2 go?"

I'm pretty sure it'll all end up as DW3, though.

And there's no reason to buy CTDS if it's in 2D. Oh, new dungeon, big whoop. I'll just stick to my awesome PlayStation version, since I've already unlocked everything in that game. Not to mention that seems more like a Square-Enix ploy than a Nintendo ploy.

Now, if CT went to GBA instead of DS, I might care.

I thought something sounded wrong when I typed that. It was a reaction to the Kotaku article, and a failure to look up the actual Japanese title. Eh.

I feel the same as you regarding Chrono Trigger DS. I have been waiting for it's GBA release for ages. It's about time they're getting to it. I don't care if it is in 2D or pseudo-3D. I'm just glad that I finally get a chance to replace my ill-fated copies of my favorite damn game.

Yes, you're right about it being Square's little marketing gimmick than Nintendo. However, look at Metroid Zero Mission and the re-release of the original Metroid on GBA. By completing Zero Mission, you gain access to the original game. So, why release the same game twice within weeks of each other? (cough cough.. Pokemon.... Rockman EXE... etc.)

Meant downloadable games as a catch-all to include those made specifically for the system (Braid, Megaman 9, etc.)

For Metroid Zero, I don't find it so much a "releasing the same game" so much as "Here's a bonus feature for completing the game!" I mean, Ninja Gaiden X-Box had the original trilogy as unlockables, and Prince of Persia: Sands of Time also had the original PoP as unlockable.

As for Rockman and Pokemon... those are games people gobble up anyway. "Oh, hey! The same game, but slightly better! YAY!" Just like the Warriors games, and the annual Madden NFL games.

So, I guess in that respect, maybe CTDS isn't quite a re-release, due to the new dungeon.

But, hey. If you're buying it to replace copies you've lost, then I can see the appeal. But since I still have my PS version, the only thing that would budge me to buy it again would be either A) It's in 3D or B) It's a GBA game (hence why I re-bought FFVI, along with the new translation). I mean, if you're going to put CT on the DS, at least take advantage of its 3D capabilities (like FFIII and FFIV); otherwise, just leave it on the GBA.

Indeed.
However, it does leave one to wonder why they silenced the Chrono Resurrection project. (other than licensed material, blah blah blah)

Not all games need to be remade in 3D. It's just a fad.

I think "licensed material" was their way of saying, "WE DON'T WANT 3D CHRONO TRIGGER!"

And no, they don't need to be remade into 3D. Hell, even some new games are still 2D (MM9, anyone?). I'm just writing what would budge me to buy a re-release of CT, and why I won't buy this one.

Likewise, this new DS is seriously lacking things to make me buy it; I'll stick to my Zelda DSLite.

Wait a second. I just had a thought. The reason they're putting 2D CT on the DS is because this new DS doesn't support GBA games! And so if they had put it on GBA, then Nintendo couldn't sell this new DS.

I'm constantly surprised at how well Nintendo manages to plan these things out. I mean, I thought they took the cake when they release the Wii, and people with Classic Controllers were like, "What's this button and latch on the back?" then lo, they finally released a peripheral for the Classic Controller.

But this DEFINITELY takes the cake.

Or, I'm just reading too deep.

I was thinking along the same lines of your theory of why CT won't be on GBA.

Maybe Nintendo is admitting that this "experiment" is far more successful than the GBA. Perhaps they are going to officially make the DS into the next Gameboy.

I forgot to mention earlier, that the camera function sounds interesting as well. Unfortunately, not everyone has a Wii. (or plans to get one) So, wouldn't that make that feature useless? Am I missing something?

Strafe's 360 bit the dust back in June, and he's having a hard time trying not to purchase another one... for now. Thank you, Soul Calibur IV, Megaman 9, Guitar Hero World Tour, etc. Way to twist that knife.

Pokemon Diamond is the first pokemon game I played since Blue, and the tremendous improvements weren't anywhere near "slightly better." Likewise, Rockman 9 will be the first Mega Man game I buy since Megaman 2 on the original Game Boy Crossed arms

I get your point, but it's perhaps a bit presumptuous to assume that fans of a particular series buy every game. And watch me become a tremendous hypocrite when I go and buy Pokemon Platinum when it comes out

If I had purchased FF4 Advance, I probably wouldn't have bought FF4DS. All the 3D and cheesy voice acting in the world wouldn't have been worth it.

I'd guess that was a Squeenix decision, not a Nintendo decision.

And since they're apparently bringing the PSX cutscenes to the new CTDS, they probably didn't have enough memory on a GBA cartridge.

Near as I can tell, the last GBA game was released at the beginning of the year, so it's pretty much dead.

Maybe I'm being presumptuous, but I'd think Nintendo would make compatible with normal computers, like a digital camera.

Given the state of my current DS, I'm glad I didn't buy a new Lite.

So, this news is =D

But, I'll have to wait and see, of course.
